The Philippine government will be acquiring advanced fighter aircraft and missile systems in the next 5 to 10 years which will be covered by Revised Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program (RAFPMP) Second Horizon (2018-2022) and Third Horizon (2023 to 2028).

RAFPMP is currently in the last year of First Horizon with major acquisitions under it still in various stage of procurement.

“While there are projects under the First Horizon of the RAFPMP that are not yet completed, we are now in the process of finalizing the list of capability requirements for the Second Horizon and Third Horizon of the RAFPMP,” the Department of National Defense told Update Philippines.

“As the global and regional security landscapes constantly evolve, the DND expects the AFP to come up with the list of materiel that will address these challenges and threats,” DND added.

“For the next five to 10 years, the DND-AFP will acquire major defense assets such as advanced fighter aircraft and missile systems,” DND said.
