From the Philippine Information Agency (Dec 8): 374K households benefit from KALAHI CIDSS projects
About 374,007 households benefitted from various Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services or the KALAHI CIDSS projects in the island region.
KALAHI CIDSS now referred as KC- National Community-Driven Development Program has reached 713 barangays of the 37 out of 38 towns in the Negros Island Region, with the exception of the municipality of Ayungon in Negros Oriental.
The total projects amounting to more than P1-billion which aim to empower people and communities, reduce poverty and improve local governance.
KALAHI CIDSS deputy regional program manager Esterlita Villamor said the World Bank funded the P255,708,500 worth of projects while the Asian Development Bank spent P105,540,800 for this year alone.
“About P361,249,300 is directed to community grants benefitting the covered households, out of the P531 million allocation,” Villamor said.
DSWD – NIR records showed all special projects in 10 towns of Negros Occidental were completed as of September this year.
Villamor added that these programs and projects encouraged the barangays to actively participate in their area’s development, like bridges that connects far-flung barangays, health stations and schools, among others.
