Regional Gov. Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and outgoing 6th Infantry "Kampilan" Division
commander Maj. Gen. Edmundo Pangilinan have jointly inaugurated over the
weekend a newly-built hostel inside the Army camp, officials said Sunday.
The three-storey facility was built by Army engineers with a
Php7 million funds from the office of the ARMM regional governor.
Named El Rajah's Place, it is located at the southern side
of the 200-hectare military reservation in Barangay Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat,
Maguindanao.
The hostel will be used for transient visitors of the Army
division that include military officials or visiting dignitaries.
“The 6th ID is thankful to the ARMM for this project,” said
Pangilinan, now outgoing commander of 6th ID.
Pangilinan, who was recently named vice commander of the
Armed Forces of the Philippines
by President Rodrigo Duterte, has been helping the regional government in its
peace initiatives in part of the region.
The 6th ID covers the provinces of Maguindanao, part of
Lanao del Sur, Sultan Kudarat and North Cotabato .
Speaking to reporters, Pangilinan said El Rajah's Place is
also open to non-military guests and members of media from other parts of the Philippines who
will be covering the 6th ID.
On many occasions, Hataman and Pangilinan have partnered in
several peace and humanitarian programs in Maguindanao and nearby places.
