New chapel inaugurated in TRADOC compound

From the Philippine News Agency (Jun 17): New chapel inaugurated in TRADOC compound

The Philippine Army (PA) inaugurated on Friday a new chapel inside the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Camp O'Donnel, Capas, Tarlac.

Most Rev. Leopoldo S. Tumulac, the Military Bishop, Military Ordinate of the Philippines, led the inauguration of the St. Vincent Ferrer Chapel.

This was followed by a thanksgiving mass, the anointment of the new altar, and the designation of Capt. Joven L. Caycong of the Chaplain Service, as the chapel's first post chaplain.

Lt. Gen. Eduardo M. Año, PA commanding general, witnessed the ceremonies and led the unveiling of the marker of the new camp facility.

The chapel was built to serve as venue to provide religious services and worship, pastoral care and ministration, and moral education to the personnel, dependents, and students of TRADOC.

St. Vincent is the TRADOC's patron saint. He is known as the patron saint of builders because of his fame for "building up" and strengthening the church, his preaching, missionary works and teachings. St. Vincent became a member of the Order of St. Dominic (Spain) in 1375.
