Soldiers of the 24th Infantry (Wildcat) Battalion showed they are not only good in combat but also for catwalk and pageantry as they ramped their good looks and physique during the celebration of the 119th Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Army on March 22 at the
The Wildcats under the command of Lt. Col. Thomas Dominic B. Baluga displayed their artillery weapons and various communications equipment and rescue paraphernalia as they modelled on stage in their colorful uniforms that they wear on different occasions and activities.
The uniforms of the Philippine Army vary depending on the occasions and opportunities such as their ordinary office uniform, their athletic attires, and even those for combat operations vary depending on the role each soldier play. Their camouflage uniforms for instance, vary from an ordinary activity of doing foot patrol, combat operation, or sniffing.
For the rescue paraphernalia, the specially-designed motorized boat made of steel drums, the brainchild of Gen. David B. Diciano, Commander, 702nd Infantry Brigade, PA, was also displayed. The “Diciano Rescue Boat” is a low-cost and highly effective rescue equipment because unlike the rubber boat, it is sturdy and reliable it does not break when it runs through debris and stones in rivers and creeks.
Since this is the first time that said combat paraphernalia were presented in public, the Abrenians enjoyed taking souvenir photos with the model soldiers. To add to the merriment, the Wildcat Band had a concert.
