From GMA News (Feb 10): Top BIFF man nabbed, son killed in Cotabato operation—military
A ranking member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters was arrested and his sond killed on Tuesday during a joint Police and Military operation in Cotabato City.
Captain Jo-Ann Petinglay, public affairs officer of the the 6th Infantry Division, identified the arrested suspect as Hassan Indal alias "Abu Hazam" of the BIFF, a splinter group of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, which is engaged in a peace process with the government.

Petinglay said Indal is the Top 4 leader of the BIFF being vice chairman for internal affairs and the commander of the 4th division of the rebel group based in Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao.
He was captured in Brgy Kalanganan MB in Cotabato City.
Ali Indal, the BIFF's commander's son and escort, was shot and killed when he engaged authorities in a shootout, Petinglay said.
Commander Indal's group, according to Petinglay, has been involved in different criminal activities and atrocities in Central Mindanao since the BIFF was formed in 2010.
Authorities arrested Indal by virtue of an arrest warrant for Murder with Double Frustrated Murder, issued by Judge George Jabido of the Cotabato City RTC.
Recovered during the operation were: 1 M653 rifle, chamber-loaded and with short magazine with 10 live ammunition; 1 cal-.45 chamber-loaded and with two magazines with 14 live ammunition; and 1 fragmentation grenade.
