Blasts hit military camp in Maguindanao

From ABS-CBN (Dec 25): Blasts hit military camp in Maguindanao

A series of explosions occurred in Datu Saudi Ampatuan town in Maguindanao on Thursday evening.

Three explosions believed to be from an M203 grenade launcher hit the headquarters of the Philippine Army's 21st Mechanized Company in Barangay Elian at around 8 p.m.

The grenade was launched by a group of about ten men positioned some 150 meters from the camp.

Fortunately, none of the military troops and civilians in the area were hurt.

Troops immediately occupied their respective battle positions and returned fire towards suspected enemy positions.

A clearing operation along the suspected enemy position was also done.

The military said the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were behind the explosion.

BIFF spokesperson Abu Missry Mama confirmed that his group was behind the explosion.
