Army commits troops, equipment in AFP Day Parade

From the Philippine Information Agency (Dec 23): Army commits troops, equipment in AFP Day Parade



A total of 1,255 Army personnel and equipment to include the newly procured R4A3 carbine rifles, armored vehicles and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) equipment highlighted the Army’s participation in the AFP’s 80th anniversary held at Haribon Hangar, Clark Airbase, Mabalacat City, Pampanga on Monday, December 21.

For the dismounted paraders, Army participants are the following; division-sized paraders composed of 966 personnel from the Army’s Security and Escort Battalion, Special Operation Command, and a Battalion of Excellence from the 7th Infantry Division, Army slow drillers, sky divers, mass jumpers, saluting battery, Philippine Army band, civil disturbance management company and the support personnel and staff.



Meanwhile, 289 Army personnel and equipment for the mounted paraders are composed of the following; 8 personnel from the Explosives and Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team with 2 KM 450 military vehicle; 26 personnel from the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) team with 1 M35 truck; 174 personnel from the Mechanized Infantry Division with 86 Armored Vehicles including the newly procured M113 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC); 31 personnel from the Army Artillery Regiment with 6 105 Howitzer Cannon; 42 personnel from the 51st Engineering Brigade with Engineering and HADR equipment such as the Manlift, Backhoe Loader, Road Grader, Rescue Van, forest ravine rescue equipment and rubber boats; and 8 personnel from the K9 unit with 2 MWD.

The Philippine Army’s participation in the AFP’s 80th anniversary aims to highlight the command thrust of pursuing the capability upgrade program through acquisition of additional mission-essential equipment.

Under the Army Transformation Roadmap, the Philippine Army envisions to be a well-equipped and respected Army in Southeast Asia, and a potent force that is ready and capable to address external threats by 2016.
