From the Philippine Information Agency (Nov 5): West PHL Sea info drive slated in Zambo
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) will be intensifying its information-dissemination efforts on the West Philippine Sea issue, through a series of activities to be held in the city.
According to DFA Assistant Secretary Charles Jose, “the dispute between China and the Philippines regarding the West Philippine Sea has sparked the need for an archipelagic consciousness among the Filipinos.”
“The campaign aims to disseminate information on the issues relating to West Philippine Sea particularly why the Philippine government seeks arbitration from an international tribunal, our entitlement on the disputed territory and other historical, economic and legal concerns,” PIA9 Regional Director Noemi B. Edaga said.
The communication efforts are being done in key cities nationwide. Locally, a multi-sectoral forum with local government officials, civil society groups, business sector representatives, people’s organizations, those in the academe and concerned groups will be held at the Garden Orchid Hotel on November 26.
Meanwhile, university forums will also be held tentatively at the Western Mindanao State University and the Ateneo de Zamboanga University for college students-leaders coming from the different public and private educational institutions here, on November 25 and 26.
