The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office said Filipino war veterans receiving pension must file a Pensioner’s Update Form (PUF) to comply with the PVAO's revalidation program and avoid the suspension of their benefits.

Victoria Antiporda, chief of the PVAO Ilocos Sur Field Office, said some 50 pensioners received no pension in September and October because they failed to update their PUF during their birth month.

"The Department of Foreign Affairs has imposed strict measures to ensure that no deceased pensioner receives monthly benefits," she said.

During their birth month and six months thereafter, the pensioners must submit their updated PUF to avoid suspension of their pension.  Those who receive notices must return the form within 30 days from the day they received the notice. Failure to comply will result to the suspension of payment of pension benefits until their status is verified and confirmed.

Pensioners who can appear personally at the PVAO must submit one copy of their latest 2x2 ID picture, and xeroxed back to back copy of their two valid ID cards. These ID cards must be preferably their senior citizen’s ID, Comelec ID, SSS or GSIS ID, passport, PVAO pensioner’s ID and AFP retiree’s ID.

Those who cannot personally appear must submit the following through their trusted relatives:  latest 3R picture of pensioner holding the front page of the latest issue of a national newspaper, with his or her signature at the back; xerixed copy of his or her valid ID card, preferably like those mentioned above; and a barangay certificate that vouch his or her residency in the given address.

Pensioners must update the following: telephone numbers (landline and cell phone); present address; date of marriage; date and place of birth. If the pensioner is a widow/widower: he or she must give the complete name of the veteran and the date of his death.

The PVAO expects pensioners to comply with these requirements, especially those who are aged 80 and above who must give update twice a year.
