From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 5): 11 soldiers hurt in Basilan road mishap

Eleven soldiers were injured after the truck they were riding in went out of control and headed straight into a steep canal in Basilan on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident transpired at 2:20 p.m. at Barangay Abong-Abong, Maluso town, of the above-mentioned province.

Capt. Roy Vincent Trinidad, Joint Task Force ZamBaSulTa (Zamboanga/Basilan/Sulu/Tawi-Tawi) spokesperson, said an M-35 truck (SJM-292) of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 11, was traveling along the Basilan Circumferential Road on its way to Manggal, Sumisip when it lost control and flipped into a deep canal near the roadway.

Eleven of its military passengers were injured in the accident.

Trinidad said the victims were immediately airlifted to Zamboanga City for treatment. Their names were not immediately made availble.
