Army’s new 62nd Infantry Battalion commander assumes post

From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 5): Army’s new 62nd Infantry Battalion commander assumes post

Lt. Col. Arnel Cabugon, executive officer of the 301st Infantry Brigade in Iloilo Province, takes over as commander of the Philippine Army’s 62nd Infantry Brigade in northern Negros starting Thursday.

Cabugon succeeds Lt. Col. Rommel Cordova, who will be assigned to a new post in Metro Manila.

Cordova, who was 62nd IB chief for almost two years, also worked for the declaration of northern Negros as peaceful and ready for further development in June last year.

The turnover of command was presided by Maj. Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, commanding general of 3rd Infantry Division, at the headquarters in Barangay Bato, Sagay City.

Cordova received a Military Merit Medal in recognition of his leadership and achievements during his tenure in northern Negros.

The 62nd IB, and the 11th IB, which is based in central Negros, are under the supervision of the 303rd Infantry Brigade.

Lt. Col. Eugene Badua assumed as commander of the 11th IB more than a month ago.
