Amidst the
growing reported drug-related crimes and proliferation of the prohibited
substances involving Moro individuals, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)
Central Committee (CC) has recently issued a resolution banning the use and
sale of Shabu in the Bangsamoro.
In
a one-page resolution dated October 21, 2015, the MILF leadership has declared
its absolute ban of the use Shabu or Methampenamie in the Bangsamoro and
neighboring areas.
The Front's
central committee is cognizant that the use and sale of said substance is
already widespread in the Bangsamoro homeland and the entire country.
"Effective
immediately, the MILF will take appropriate action to any person, Bangsamoro or
non-Bangsamoro found guilty of using Shabu and those found beyond reasonable
doubt of drug pushing or being engaged in the sale and proliferation of
Shabu," stated in the resolution.
The MILF-CC
also directs the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) Chief of Staff, Sammy
Al-Mansour, to implement the resolution "without any exemption."
In the past
months, there were reported rape and killing of teenage girls in Tawi-tawi,
Lanao and Maguindanao by suspects using drugs. Another mother in Sarangani
provice was reportedly raped by a suspected drug addict.
The MILF's
action against illegal drugs is drawing positive responses from the Moro
netizens. A certain Mucha Shim urged the MILF to implement the resolution as
soon as possible suggesting to pilot Sibutu town in Tawi-tawi province.
He
disclosed there were small girls raped in broad daylight and murdered thereat
and that thievery becomes rampant.
"I
have however seen that there is very little effort or effective government
intervention that no less than the barangay councils and the local elders and
religious are already lamenting," he said.
