This province received an additional assistance of P55
million worth of Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) projects under the
Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) this
year.
Provincial Director Francisco Gamatero of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reported during a recent Provincial Peace and Order Council special meeting, that these projects are all located in the municipality of Tinglayan.
“This is part of the gains derived from the peace accord forged between the government and the former Cordillera Peoples Liberation Army to connect the mountain barangays of Tinglayan to the national highway and boost agricultural production in the area,” Gamatero explained.
Tinglayan Municipal Engineer Basilio Chulsi Jr. reported that seven PAMANA projects are funded out of the P55M, of which one is already completed, five on-going and one is yet to start.
Completed he said is the P1M rehabilitation of the Bugnay footbridge. On-going are the concreting of the Bugnay-Buscalan road which has the biggest in allocation costing P48M, construction of Maswa-Basao potable water, improvement of Naadchil, Patungngay and Arong communal irrigation systems (CIS) in Bugnay, and another CIS in Bugnay.
Gamatero also bared that other project proposals submitted for OPAPP consideration are the concreting and improvement of Balinciagao-Amdalao road with bridge costing P52M; construction of Cagaluan, Pasil-Liglig, Tanglag, Lubuagan access road worth P20M, and concreting of the P64M Catabbogan-Wagod road in Pinukpuk.
The provision of community development projects under the PAMANA aims to bring progress to areas particularly in conflict-affected or vulnerable areas.
