CAMP GUILLERMO NAKAR, Lucena City - "IT CAN BE DONE," said AFP Chief of Staff General Hernando DCA Iriberri ...on having a peaceful 2016 Elections. This was said during his visit to the HQS of the AFP Southern Luzon Command on Nov 7, 2015 when he personally checked the current campaign plan and election preparations of SOLCOM.

Giving emphasis on the upcoming 2016 National and Local Elections, General Iriberri presented to subordinate commanders his Abra 2013 election experience as a template that may be used in their respective areas and can be replicated as well.

His presentation shared his initiatives and best practices when he was brigade commander. It showed what commanders and units can do before, during and after election activities.

"One imperative that every soldier must be at all times is to maintain its non-partisan stance," said General Iriberri.

He said that through coordination with the PNP and COMELEC, field commanders should have started gathering data and statistics because it will be a big factor in making their respective election security plan.

Among those present during CSAFP's visit were SOLCOM Chief Lieutenant General Ricardo R. Visaya, the two Army Infantry Division Commanders Major General Romeo G. Gan (2ID) and Brigadier General Ferdinand F. Quidilla (9ID), Commander of the Naval Forces Southern Luzon Commodore Injemar Pernes, two Tactical Operations Group, PAF Commanders, and six Infantry Brigade Commanders and their respective staffs.

General Iriberri directed commanders to start identifying problem areas based on historical data as baseline. He said PAGs should not be able to sow fear during election period.

"When campaign period starts, we should implement election laws STRICTLY but fair," said Gen Iriberri.

"Let us be firm but keep our communication lines open," he said.

He also encouraged everyone to espouse for the united effort with the PNP and COMELEC.
