A Philippine Air Force (PAF) UH-ID combat utility helicopter
crash landed in Sarangani after encountering strong winds while on
casualty-evacuation (CASEVAC) mission Saturday.
The mishap took place 9:40 a.m., Eastern Mindanao Command
public affairs office chief Capt. Alberto Caber said.
He added the UH-ID crash landed in Sitio Lamsalo, Barangay
Upper Suyan, Malapatan, Sarangani.
Caber said the aircraft was on a CASEVAC mission in the area
to help troopers of the 73rd Infantry Battalion when the UH-ID encounter strong
winds while landing.
The nine military personnel aboard sustained slight injuries
in the accident.
Caber said Eastern Mindanao Command head Lt. Gen. Aurelio
Baladad has deployed additional helicopters from the 11th Tactical Operations
Group to help in the CASEVAC mission and rescue of the crew members and
passengers of the stricken aircraft.
