Operatives of Joint Task Group Sulu arrested an Abu Sayyaf
Group (ASG) member during operations in Jolo on Friday afternoon.
The operations took place at 2:40 p.m. at the vicinity of
Jolo Pier.
Brig. Gen. Alan Arrojado, Joint Task Group Sulu commander,
identified the suspect as Saddam Jailani.
Jailani was arrested by intelligence operatives and patrol
units of the 2nd Marine Brigade, 35th Infantry Battalion, PNP Special Action
Force, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and NICA 9.
Jailani has a pending warrant of arrest with Regional Trial
Court, 7th Judicial Region, Branch 9, Cebu City .
"Subject is also under the group of ASG sub-leader
Alhabsy Misaya which is responsible for the kidnapping of two Malaysians and
one (South) Korean (early this year)," Arrojado added.
Jailani is now being transferred to Zamboanga City
for custody.
"Moreover, all units under Joint Task Group Sulu were
alerted for possible retaliatory actions against government troops and other
soft targets, and intensified checkpoint operations," Arrojado said.
