The U.S. Embassy will host a discussion on Cybersecurity at
the Asian Institute of Management on Wednesday, October 28 from 2:00 pm – 4:00
p.m. regarding what the United States
and the Philippines
have done to protect networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage
or unauthorized access.
The U.S.
recently hosted two participants through the International Visitors Leadership
Program (IVLP) on Cybersecurity. During that program, Chief Ronald Aguto of the
Cybercrime Division at the National Bureau of Investigation and Police Senior
Inspector Levy Lozada of the Anti-Cybercrime Group at the Philippine National
Police held discussions with U.S. network security experts, cybersecurity
regulation experts, privacy protection activists, and affected industry
representatives to explore current threat assessments and the risks and
responses to growing malevolent cyber activity. They also learned how the
government and business community in the U.S. are responding with
technological and legal countermeasures.
Chief Aguto and Senior Inspector Lozada will share their
experiences from the IVLP, and the potential for positive impact in their
respective agencies on Wednesday. The event will be moderated by Stephen P.
Cutler, retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigations and a former Legal
Attaché to the U.S. Embassy in Manila .
The IVLP is a professional exchange program that seeks to
build mutual understanding between the U.S.
and other nations through carefully designed short-term visits to the U.S. for
current and emerging foreign leaders on a variety of topics.
The Asian Institute of Management is located at 123 Paseo de
Roxas in Makati .
