NPA rebels surrender to 10th ID in Davao Norte

From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 30): NPA rebels surrender to 10th ID in Davao Norte

Six members of the rebel group New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the military in Sitio Patil, Brgy. Gupitan, Kapalong, Davao del Norte on Thursday.

In a statement sent by Capt. Rhyan Batchar, chief of division public affairs office of the 10th Infantry Division, the six rebels brought with them two M16 rifles and one M14 rifle.

He added that they surfaced through the help of a tribal datu to joint elements of 60th Infantry Battalion (IB) and Delta Company of 72nd IB.

"The Team Agila welcomes their return to the mainstream society and hope that other active NPAs will emulate what they have done. We are certain that they too missed their loved ones' care and affection. Let us work together to attain peace not through armed struggle but through active peace advocacies ourselves," said Maj. Gen. Rafael Valencia, 10th ID Commander.

The six are now undergoing custodial debriefing at the headquarters of the 60th Infantry Battalion based in Brgy. Doña Andrea, Asuncion, Davao del Norte.
