Government security troops are now conducting a manhunt
against a lawless group that bombed and toppled two transmission towers in Marawi City
1st Infantry Division spokesperson Lt. Col. Audie Mongao
disclosed Friday that the manhunt is in coordination with members of the Lanao
Del Sur Provincial Police Office.
Mongao said police are still determining the motive and
identities of the brigands who toppled National Grid Corporation of the
Philippines Transmission Towers 19 and 20 located at Barangay Sugod, Marawi City
Improvised explosive devices were used in the attack, he
added.
The two transmission towers provide electricity to Lanao Del
Sur via AGUS 2 hydro-electric plant in Barangay Pawak, Saguiaran town.
