From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 2): 150 Army recruits in Central Mindanao sent to training

A new set of 150 recruits coming from various parts of Central Mindanao began Thursday a five-month training course at this camp headquarters of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6ID) to become regular members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The candidate-soldiers were immediately sent to the 6ID Training School situated in nearby Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat town to start their two-phase schooling program.

The phases comprises the basic military training that would run for three months, and the jungle warfare mountain operations course that would occupy the remaining two months of the program.

During the training, the recruits are expected to undergo intense and abrupt changes in their personal lifestyles in acculturation to military standards.

Maj. Gen. Edmundo Pangilinan, 6ID commander, he requires the training to be purposive and relevant to ensure a mind-set that everything done in defense of the Republic against perceived enemies is essentially important.

The trainees, upon completion of the program, would be assimilated to various 6ID brigade units scattered across the region.
