The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) expressed its
appreciation to the Commission on Appointments (CA) for the confirmation of AFP
chief-of-staff Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri and 104 other ranking military
officers on Wednesday.
"The Chief-of-Staff, AFP General Hernando DCA Iribberi
and 104 other generals, flag officers and fullcolonels of the AFP were
confirmed by the Commission on Appointments today during their plenary session
at the Senate this afternoon," AFP spokesperson Col. Restituto Padilla
said.
Iriberri was appointed as AFP head after the retirement of
then AFP chief-of-staff Gen. Gregorio Catapang last July 10.
The former is a member of Philippine Military Academy Class
(PMA) of 1983.
"The AFP extends its appreciation and thanks to the
members of the Commission for their continued support and due diligence to
ensure the integrity of the career progression of the AFP and that all these
officers are deserving of their appointment to their higher rank," Padilla
said.
"General Iriberri personally thanked the Commission and
the Senate President and assured them of the AFP's high regard for the
constitutional provision of civilian supremacy over the military," the AFP
spokesperson further said.
