NPA: 6 killed, 4 injured in Army, NPA clashes in Surigao del Sur

From the often pro-CPP Davao Today (Sep 9): NPA: 6 killed, 4 injured in Army, NPA clashes in Surigao del Sur

Six Army members were killed and four were wounded during its recent clashes with the New People’s Army in San Agustin town Surigao del Sur.

In a statement to the press, Maria Malaya, spokesperson of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines said the casualties were members of the 402nd Brigade.

Malaya said  the incident took place at around 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon in Sitio Kabuluhan, Buhisan, San Agustin.

She said NPA guerillas from Front 19 ambushed a column of the Army’s Scout Rangers who crossed Hubo river going to Sitio Kabuluhan.

“This resulted in the death of three Scout Rangers and an unidentified number of wounded,” she said.

At 3:00 pm another team of the NPA guerillas attacked Army’s from 36th Infantry Battalion. Malaya said three died and four were wounded from the government troops.

  1. Claims of AFP casualties were contained in a propaganda statement issued by the NDF/NPA spokesperson, Maria Malaya. The veracity of her claim is suspect.
