The Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday confirmed the ad interim appointment of Chief of Staff Gen. Hernando Delfin Carmelo A. Iriberri and appointments of 104 senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

“I submitted myself to the authority of the CA because I know that my appointment really comes from the people whom they represented,” Iriberri told the media after his confirmation.

Iriberri, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Matikas Class ’83, assured that he will address the reported abuses allegedly committed by his fellow men in uniform.

”I will not allow that to happen especially in my birthplace, even anywhere in the country,” the AFP top official from Surigao Del sur said.

Meanwhile, the CA approved the election of Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Gregorio ‘Gringo’ Honasan II as CA minority leader and deputy minority leader, respectively.

Other confirmed are 15 Brigadier Generals -- Emmanuel B. Salamat, Emigdio D. Guevarra Jr., Noelito C. Albano, Aaron T. Fetalvero, Paul T. Atal, Librado B. Moog, Jon N. Aying, Nicolas C. Parilla, Frederick Evans L. Ramos, Laurcris P. Tumanda, Alan R. Arrojado, Francisco V. Carada, Joel DC. Celino, Leoncio V. Picar and Ferdinand F. Quidilla.

Major Generals -- Gerardo F. Barrientos, Jr., Conrado V. Parra Jr., Angelito M. De Leon, Alexander F. Balutan, Galileo Gerard R. Kintanar, Jr., Rolando V. Picar, and Arnold M. Quiapo as well as Lt. Generals Eduardo Ano, Ricardo R. Visaya, and Edgar R. Fallorina.
