2 killed, 2 critically wounded in Cotabato shootout

From GMA News (Sep 10): 2 killed, 2 critically wounded in Cotabato shootout

Two people were killed and two others were critically wounded in a shootout started by two groups of armed men Wenesday night that ended when Army Special Forces responded.

Supt. Rex Anongos, Cotabato City police director, identified one of those killed as Jordan Talusop from Shariff Kabunsuan.

He was shot by a group of  suspects headed by one Ben Montes a.k.a. Black Moro, who is now in police custody.

On the other hand, Black Moro's companion, Roland Kabatuan, was killed by responding soldiers.

Alima Adam and Michael Montes, also Black Moro's companions were wounded and brought to a hospital.

Members of the 5th Army Special Forces Battalion were conducting patrol along SK Pendatun Avenue, some 500 meters from Police Station 1, when they noticed an ongoing shootout involving two groups of gunmen on motorbikes at past 9 p.m.

Colonel Rannie Sevilla, 5th Special Forces Battalion commander, said Black Moro shot Talusop dead at a roadside despite the presence of soldiers.

The soldiers fired warning shots but the gunmen fired back.

Black Moro's group, composed of three men and woman, sped away but Kabatuan was shot by the soldiers.

Police are still determining the motive for the clash between the two groups.
