From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 21): 5 soldiers hurt in Bukidnon IED blast

Five soldiers of the 8th Infantry Battalion were wounded after a rebel improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in Kitaotao, Bukidnon on Sunday morning.

Capt. Alberto Caber, Eastern Mindanao Command public affairs office chief, said the wounded troopers were conducting pursuit operations against New People's Army (NPA) forces at Barangay Pagan, Kitaotao town when the explosion took place at 8:20 a.m.

A five-minute firefight transpired and resulted in the wounding of an undetermined number of rebels.

Caber identified the wounded soldiers as 2nd Lt. Noel Manalang, Sgt. Ruel Lavalle, Pfc. Abdurasan Ibnomusa, Pfc. Ravi Pamalison and Pfc. Marvin Dancel

He said that the perpetrators are members of the Guerrilla Front 53, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee of the NPA, who were responsible for the aborted liquidation attempt of White Kulaman Barangay chairman Felipe S. Cabugnason last Saturday.
