From ANC/ABS-CBN (Aug 13): Video: Senate version of BBL 'no longer recognizable': Jaafar
[Video report: Interview with Ghadzali Jafaar, MILF vice chairman for political affairs]
The Moro Islamic Liberation Front is still willing to work with senators towards an acceptable version of the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law.
MILF vice-chairman for political affairs Ghazali Jaafar admitted while the Senate version of the BBL is in accordance with the Constitution, the measure was changed drastically and is no longer recognizable from the Bangsamoro Transition Commission's draft.
But Jaafar said the MILF still hopes to see the passage of a measure that will be an effective vehicle for lasting peace and development in Mindanao.
"It may be constitutional but will it serve the purpose why BBL was created? The other concern is - will it be accepted by the people? Yan ang mahalagang katanungan."
"Pagsisikapan namin na mabago ang ibang provisions na binago na. At the end of the day, kung bigo ang mga Muslims at least ginawa namin ang lahat," he said.
