From Tempo (Aug 13): Lady soldier’s gun hits child
COTABATO CITY – A lady soldier is under investigation after she accidentally fired his .45-caliber pistol, wounding a child at a mall here recently.
Supt. Efren Salazar, Police Station 1 chief, said Army Pfc.
Michelle Ortega of the 6th Infantry Division was depositing at the entrance of South Seas Mall here her service pistol when it went off with its bullet hitting the floor tiles Sunday.
Salazar said parts of the shattered tiles injured a 14-year-old boy Sunday.
The lady soldier promptly rushed the unnamed boy to the hospital for treatment, he added.
She said Ortega was on official break from a 10-day training when the incident happened.
