Sulu solon slams Abu Sayyaf over hostage’s beheading

From the Manila Bulletin (Aug 13): Sulu solon slams Abu Sayyaf over hostage’s beheading

Jolo, Sulu – Sulu 1st District Rep Habib Tupay Loong yesterday extended his condolences to the family of Dapitan City village chief Rodolfo Buligao who was beheaded by Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits.

Rep Loong said the act of the ASG is not in keeping with the teachings of the Kor-an and described the beheading as ‘un – Islamic’.

The decapitated body of Boligao was found dumped by the road in Barangay Lunggang in Maimbung, Sulu, about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

“They should also consider the family of Buligao, the village chief of Aliguay in Dapitan City, and if the family could not pay ransom to them, they should release him for humanitarian reason and consideration and not to behead him,” a fuming Loong said.

Loong, a former leader of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in the province appealed to the group to release unconditionally the two Philippine Coast Guard personnel who was abducted together with Buligao.

“I am appealing to the Abu Sayyaf who are still holding cost guard men SN2 Gringo Villaruz and SN1 Rod Pagaling to release them for humanitarian reason, their respective family needs them, “ Rep Loong said.

SN2 Villaruz and SN1 Pagaling are both members of the PCG and were temporarily stationed at the island to monitoring arriving and departing sea vessels.
