An estimated 700 residents living in and around Camp Aguinaldo ,
Quezon City on
Tuesday were treated to a "Health Fiesta 2015" sponsored by the Armed
Forces of the Philippines Medical Center (AFPMC).
Col. Joseph M. Acosta, AFPMC head, said the 700 residents,
students, soldiers and military civilian employees were provided with free
medical consultations which was held at the General Headquarters Canopy in Camp Aguinaldo .
He said this is a prelude event for the 78th foundation
anniversary of AFPMC which is slated this coming Sept. 3.
The celebration bears the theme “AFPMC @ 78: Inspiring
People with Transparency and Commitment to Change and Move Forward.”
The medical consultation started at around 8 a.m. and ended
at 12 noon.
Acosta said the more than 25 booths that were placed at the
GHQ Canopy represented the various departments of the AFPMC.
In previous years, the “Health Fiesta” was only organized
within the confines of V. Luna, serving only soldiers and dependents.
He said that each department promoted its services to the
public with presentations and hands-on testing of devices and simulations.
Among the booths that attracted attention were the
obstetrics and gynaecology (OB-GYN) and maternity department which featured a
mother dummy giving birth, free consultation for pregnant women and short
seminar about childbearing.
“It was a morale-boosting activity for them to make them
feel that they are appreciated and productive members of our society,” he said.
Acosta said the AFPMC now stands by its new core value
dubbed "SMILE Na Po Tayo" which stands for Service above self,
Morally upright, Integrity, Leadership, Excellence, Professionalism and
Teamwork.
