Air Force disaster response units ready

From Ang Malaya (Apr 5): Air Force disaster response units ready

Philippine Air Force Mobile Disaster Response Unit based in Villamor Air Base had been alerted and assembled since April 3 in anticipation of Typhoon Chedeng which was expected to affect parts of Norther Luzon Saturday late evening, PAF said.

Air Force disaster response unit is composed of search and rescue, medical, engineering, communication, security and public information teams.

PAF Commanding General Lt. Gen. Jeffrey F. Delgado inspected the readiness of the Mobile Disaster Response Unit based Villamor Air Base on Saturday, April 4 at around 8 a.m.

The team with their equipment and vehicles such as ambulance, commo-van, skid-steer loader can be immediately deployed via C-130 Hercules and the brand-new C-295 aircraft.

All Luzon-based Disaster Response Units at Basa Air Base and Clark Air Base, Pampanga; Fernando Air Base, Lipa City; Maj Danilo Atienza Air Base, Cavite and Col Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City composed of around 800 personnel with their equipment were also put on standby alert for Chedeng, the Air Force added.
