BIFF rebels use ‘shabu’, spread terror: Two rebel camps fall

From Ang Malaya (Mar 4): BIFF rebels use ‘shabu’, spread terror: Two rebel camps fall

Joint Task Force Central composed of Philippine Army, Marines and Philippine National Police forces capture second Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters camp at Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao. The said encampment was abandoned by the Moro rebels after a brief clash Monday night, fifth day after AFP Chief-of-Staff General Catapang declared an all-out offensive.

“We will intensify and press our law enforcement operation against this group, there’s no let up,” 6th Infantry Division spokesperson Captain Joann Petinglay said. “Our local government executives are helping the military locate the BIFF areas after Maj. Gen. Pangilinan (6th ID commander) sought their help in neutralizing the BIFF.”

Recovered items from the camp include firearm parts, tripods for .50 caliber machineguns, antennas for two-way radios, ammunition for assorted firearms, and shabu paraphernalia. The government forces also recovered documents showing that the rebel group is planning to divert military focus by spreading terror outside Maguindanao.

On Sunday, government forces captured BIFF stronghold in Bgy Dasikil, Mamasapano, Maguindanao. The rebel camp has a factory of improvised bombs.
