The United States Marine Corps has started training 54 Special Action Force, 6th Special Action Battalion members, and allied local police operatives in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, yesterday, in preparation for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in the province.

Supt. Marlu Conag, battalion commander, SAF SAB-6, told the DAILY STAR that the joint US military assistance group has offered regular trainings to Philippine military, police and special units.
 
There are 46 SAF members from SAB-6 and eight from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and the Regional Public Safety Battalion who are joining the training, Conag said.
 
Courses on anti-insurgency, APEC tasking, human rights, K-9 handling, bomb and explosives, and terrorism are to be taken up with the policemen, Conag said.
 
He said the training will last for seven weeks, or 45 days.
