PERSONNEL of the Mati City Police Station and soldiers from 701st Infantry Brigade received recognition on Tuesday for successfully defending the precinct from New People’s Army attack last Feb. 15.
Chief. Supt. Wendy G. Rosario, regional police director, handed out medals to 39 awardees during a simple ceremony in Maty City Police Station.
In his speech, Rosario cited proper cooperation and coordination between the police and military to fend off the attack.
“Let us therefore continue our vigilance and strengthen our information gathering not only against the armed group but also against criminality so that we can preserve peace in our area of responsibility,” Rosario said.
Twenty-three police officers received Medalya ng Kadakilaan (PNP heroism medal) from Provincial Public Safety Company, led by Sr. Inspector Cinelo N. SolaƱa III, while 16 received Medalya ng Kagalingan (PNP Merit of Medal) from Mati Police Station, led by Supt. Benito O. Recopuerto.
They were given recognition for their bravery, heroism by gallantry in defending Mati Police station.
Eighteen soldiers from 701st Infantry Brigade were given the military merit medal for helping the police in the gunbattle which resulted to the arrest of Guerilla Front 18 leader Prince Wendel Olefernes.
Meanwhile, PO3 Danilo Babao also received Medalya ng Kagalingan and Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting by Rosario who visited him yesterday in Southern Philippines Medical Center.
