Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) chief peace negotiator Mohagher Iqbal questioned the authenticity of the viral video showing a Special Action Force (SAF) trooper being brutally killed by an unidentified man.

During Thursday's Senate inquiry, Iqbal was asked by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV if the man shooting the cop in the video is a member of the MILF.

"Mahirap na tanong po yan. Kung sasabihin ko na ang tropa namin ang gumawa without the result of investigation, that is as if self-incrimination," Iqbal told the senator.

He said there is a need for a fair and impartial investigation to determine who is really behind the brutal killing of the SAF commando.

"Naniniwala ako na hindi ginawa ng MILF yan... I personally believe na hindi gagawin ng pwersa ng MILF yan. However, i-conduct muna natin yung investigation para lalabas kugn ano ang katotohanan."

Iqbal said it is also important to determine the authenticity of the 6-minute video clip, which has caused outrage among many people.

"Nasa Youtube yan. Hindi natin alam kung sino ang gumawa niyan. Baka gusto lang manira. I don't know what would be the motive... Ano ba yan, authentic ba yan? Kasi with the advanced technology now ay siguro mas madali pang gawin yan kesa sa nakikita natin sa movies na halos virtual reality," he said.
