President Benigno Aquino III has approved a Christmas ceasefire with the communist New People's Army, the Armed Forces of the Philippines said Monday.
A report by radio dzBB's Glen Juego said the AFP disclosed Aquino approved the ceasefire as commander-in-chief of the police and military.
The suspension of offensive military operations (SOMO) and suspension of offensive police operations (SOPO) will start Dec. 18 and end Jan. 19.
