Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin said the Php 300 million
newly-donated equipment from South Korean Armed Forces will boost the country’s
capacity to respond to future natural disasters.
Defense officials from two countries signed the deed of
donations today during the completion of mission ceremony.
Turned over were 8,310 heavy equipment, medical supplies,
hand tools, maintenance tools and communication equipment supplies.
“These will be a great help to our soldiers in addressing
the consequences and ill effects of disasters and calamities in our
communities,” Gazmin said.
“This allows the Armed Forces of the Philippines to
have it as theY used THEM for the enhancement in disaster response operations,”
Gazmin said.
The NDRRMC, chaired by Gazmin, will maintain the Korean Army
contingent base camp at the Government
Center in Palo town.
He also said that today's morning occasion is not just an
awarding but also a celebration for long friendship between the Philippine and South Korea .
