Abu Sayyaf frees fish breeder in Sulu

From the Manila Times (Dec 11): Abu Sayyaf frees fish breeder in Sulu

The Abu Sayyaf brigands have released a Malaysian-Chinese fish breeder they seized six months ago in Sandakan, Sabah, a military official disclosed here Thursday.

Freed was Chan Sai Chuin, 32, also known as Kun Mun Hua (passport name), who was seized in Sandakan, Sabah, formerly known as the North Borneo.

Capt. Ma. Rowena Muyuela, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, quoting a belated report from “ground units” said that Chuin was freed around 11 p.m. Tuesday in Sitio Tumahu, Barangay Tubig Dakula, Indanan, Sulu.

Muyuela said the Abu Sayyaf brigands released Chuin following negotiations initiated by Hadji Mamih Sangkula and Hadji Mandi Sangkula.

She said Chuin was fetched by a speedboat upon his release and was immediately taken to Sandakan, Sabah.
