Suspects in alleged NAIA bombing attempt deny possession of explosives

From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 3): Suspects in alleged NAIA bombing attempt deny possession of explosives

The three suspects in the alleged bombing attempt at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 filed their counter-affidavit at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) charged them with illegal possession of explosives on Tuesday.

In a four-page joint counter-affidavit of Grandeur Pepito Guerrero, Emmanuel San Pedro and Sonny Yohanon, submitted to Assistant State Prosecutor Aristotle Reyes, they vehemently denied that they brought along with them explosives at the NAIA.

The suspects said that Norberto Paranga allegedly borrowed the white Toyota Revo with plate no. WML 129 owned by Guerrero and that he drove it to the NAIA T3 parking lot.

They added that they did not know that the vehicle was loaded with improvised incendiary device (IID).

They added that no forensic examination was conducted to determine that the materials found inside the vehicle were real explosives.

As such, the three suspects withdrew their "waiver and prayer for preliminary investigation" which they earlier lodged at the DOJ.

Instead, they asked for an immediate resolution of the charges filed against them.
