Two US C-130T aircraft will be procured by PH via foreign military sale

From AngMalaya (Aug 1): Two US C-130T aircraft will be procured by PH via foreign military sale

“The Government of the Philippines has requested a possible sale from Department of Defense stock of two (2) C-130T Aircraft, and 10 T56-16 engines (8 installed and 2 spares),” says in US Defense Security Cooperation Agency letter to US Congress.

The US State Department already approved the said procurement for an estimated cost of $61 million.

Included in the said procurement are logistical sustainment and support for a period of three years, modification equipment and labor costs, spare and repair parts, support equipment, publications and technical documentation, aircraft ferry support, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor logistics and technical support services, and other related elements of logistics and program support.

US Defense Security Cooperation Agency said that the sale will “contribute to U.S. security and foreign policy goals by building the Philippines’ maritime domain security capacity and deepening our overall strategic partnership with the Philippines.”

US DSCA assure the US Congress that the sale will not result to adverse impact on U.S. defense and will not alter the basic military balance in the Asia-Pacific.

With additional two C-130T, Philippines’ readiness and response for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief will be bolstered and will eventually reduce potential level of U.S. assistance needed for humanitarian assistance and disaster response purposes.
