From the Manila Bulletin (Aug 1): Coffee project up in Bukidnon military camp
The Army’s 4th Infantry Division (4ID), together with partner agencies, recently planted an initial 5,000 Robusta coffee seedlings at the 200-hectare Coffee Plantation Pilot Project, also known as CP3, at Camp Kibaritan, Bukidnon.
The activity, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Nestle Philippines, and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), is in line with the thrust of the Department of National Defense (DND) to generate funds to support the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The DND Integrated Business Plan (IBP) Project is being implemented utilizing Military Reservations. Major Christian Uy, 4ID spokesman, said the vision of the DND-IBP Project is for the DND/AFP to be a self-reliant and self-sustaining bureau.
Uy said the goal is to optimize the utilization of the potential areas covered by Military Reservations in the conduct of multiple farm production.
Target of the project is Agro-industry production, like coffee, Bali palm oil, and other crops.
Uy said the 200-hectare land area for CP3 is just the first phase of the overall plan of the DND in its military reservation area in Camp Kibaritan, and is inside the 4ID area of responsibility.
Uy said this project will be implemented by a domestic corporation, which is the Kibaritan Military Reservation Producers Cooperative (KMRPC).
