Abu Sayyaf member killed in Lamitan City

From the Philippine News Agency (Aug 25): Abu Sayyaf member killed in Lamitan City

A member and spotter of the Abu Sayyaf brigands was killed Monday in downtown Lamitan City, the police reported.

Senior Insp. Gean Gallardo, Lamitan City police chief, identified the fatality as Abdul Lampas, a resident of Barangay Kabangalan, Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan.

Gallardo said Lampas was repeatedly shot at around 8:40 a.m. Monday at Oval site, Barangay Matibay, Lamitan City.

Oval site is where the Lamitan City public market is located.

Gallardo said Lampas sustained seven gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Lampas had been identified as member of the Abu Sayyaf brigands based on the rouge gallery of the Lamitan City police headquarters.
