Eastern Mindanao Command joins nationwide celebration of National Heroes Day

From the Philippine News Agency (Aug 25): Eastern Mindanao Command joins nationwide celebration of National Heroes Day

Showing that military personnel even in the most farthest corner of the archipelago are well aware of the bravery and sacrifices of heroes, both past and present, the Davao-based Eastern Mindanao Command joined the nationwide celebration of National Heroes Day Monday.

Also known as the "Pambansang Araw ng mga Bayani", wreath-laying activities were spearheaded by Eastern Mindanao Command deputy Brig. Gen. Alexander F. Balutan.

This took place 7 a.m. at the Unknown Soldier’s Monument in Davao City.

This year's celebration has a theme of “Bayanihang Pilipino: Lumalaban para sa Makatwiran at Makabuluhang Pagbabago”.

Military units under the Eastern Mindanao Command such as the Army’s 4th Infantry Division which cover Regions 10 and 13; and the 10th Infantry Division which covers Region 11 and portions of Region 12 also joined the same celebration at their respective venues in coordination with the concerned local government units.

By virtue of Commonwealth Act Number 3827 of 1931, the last Sunday of August was declared a national holiday known as National Heroes’ Day.
