From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 11): Army troops hunting NPA rebels who torched mining equipment in Compostela Valley

Troopers from the Philippine Army's 10th Infantry Division are now pursuing a New People's Army (NPA) band who torched the equipment of a mining firm in Barangay Masara, Maco, Compostela Valley province on Thursday afternoon.

Capt. Ernesto Carolina, 10th Infantry Division spokesperson, said the unprovoked attack against the motorpool of the Apex Mining Company and Atlas Cooperative transpired at around 2:30 p.m.

He added that a force of 25 to 30 rebels barged into the compound and burned 21 units of mining equipment consisting of drilling machines, backhoes, loaders, cement mixers and vehicles.

Carolina said there were no reported casualties.
