An Army captain was killed Tuesday as he led his troops in a fierce firefight against more than 50 members of the Abu Sayyaf and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan, the military said.

Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Randolph Cabangbang said Captain Harold Camazo, 31, “was killed while he and his troops were conducting clearing operations against the terrorist groups.”

Camazo, a member of Philippine Military Academy “Sanlingan” Class 2005, commanded the 11 Scout Ranger Company of the 4th Ranger Regiment.
He was a native of Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro.

On Monday, three Abu Sayyaf gunmen under the command of Juhair Aliman alias Botong Ivo were killed in an encounter with Army troops in Barangay Mebak, Sumisip town.
