From the CPP Website (Apr 20): Time magazine praises for Aquino is worthless to the Filipino people--CPP
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today dismissed the Time magazine’s inclusion of Benigno Aquino III in its list of the world’s 100 most influential people saying “it is worthless to the Filipino people who have nothing but contempt for the stooge of the US, loyal servant of foreign big banks and corporations, partner of the big compradors and landlords, oppressive overlord and consort of smugglers and tax evaders.”
“Aquino is being praised for his puppetry to the US and its hegemonism in the Asia-Pacific, for playing its role in the US geo-political strategy to establish its military presence, project its power and encircle China by playing up the South China Sea conflict and seeking US help in the purported defense of Philippine claims,” pointed out the CPP.
“He is also being praised for carrying out the so-called ‘anti-poverty’ programs of the World Bank which are nothing but palliatives that seek to make the people cling to the hopes of reform without actually addressing any of the roots of their poverty,” added the CPP.
The CPP pointed out that in 2010, the Time magazine featured Aquino in an article prior to the presidential elections in May of that year in a clear US-endorsement of Aquino’s candicacy. Through the Time magazine, the US sent a clear message to other presidential candidates to stand-down and accept the results of the US-coordinated automated electoral cheating.
“To the Filipino people, there is nothing to be proud of Benigno Aquino III, whose government has intensified attacks against the toiling masses, pulled-down wages, demolished workers communities, prevented land reform, allowed foreign companies to plunder the country’s mineral resources, raised taxes and fees and cut subsidies for public education and health.”
“They have nothing but contempt of the Aquino regime that has proved itself to be no less repressive than the previous regimes from Marcos to Arroyo, despite the stepped up rhetoric of ‘peace and human rights’, in carrying out the brutal anti-people’s Oplan Bayanihan war of suppression,” added the CPP.
“In a vain attempt to put an end to the people’s resistance, Aquino’s state armed agents continue to militarize the countryside, carry-out extrajudicial killings, illegally arrest and imprison political activists, torture detainees, impose food and economic blockades, commit sex crimes against women and violate children’s rights.”
