The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today enjoined the Filipino youth to join the New People’s Army, the revolutionary peasant mass movement in the countryside as well as other areas of revolutionary undertaking through the Ka Roger enlistment campaign initiated by the Kabataang Makabayan.

The CPP issued this call on the occasion of former CPP spokesperson Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal’s 66th birth anniversary today. Last year, the CPP declared Ka Roger’s birthday as “Serve the People Day” as a tribute to one of the Philippine revolutionary movement’s most popular figures. Ka Roger passed away on June 22, 2011.

“The revolutionary people’s war continues to rage and intensify in the countryside. There is an increasing need for tens of thousands of educated youth to help build the revolutionary people’s government, wage educational and cultural campaigns, build teams to further expand the guerrilla fronts, support the peasants’ land reform struggles and join the New People’s Army as Red fighters and commanders,” said the CPP.

“As a revolutionary youth leader, Ka Roger joined the New People’s Army, became one of the pioneers of the armed peasant movement in the Southern Tagalog and Bicol regions in the 1970s and contributed his skills in education and propaganda to mobilize the peasant masses in their struggle against feudal oppression and exploitation,” said the CPP.

“Let Ka Roger’s lifestory serve as a model and inspiration for the current generation of Filipino youth who are confronted with the same problems that have compelled the toiling masses of workers and peasants to wage mass struggle and armed resistance,” added the CPP.

“Over the past three years, the Aquino regime has shown extreme contempt for the democratic and national aspirations of the Filipino people and exhibited complete subservience to the US government and its military, foreign monopoly capitalists and their local big compradors and big landlords,” said the CPP.

“Like Ka Roger, let us expose the problems of imperialism, feudalism and bureacrat capitalism which continue to weigh down on the Filipino people,” added the CPP. “Let us enjoin the Filipino youth to join the Ka Roger enlistment campaign and wage revolutionary struggle with the Filipino people.”
