The Armed Forces of the Philippines(AFP) in Negros Island is poised to conduct an investigation on the source of funds of the New People's Army (NPA) after it paid a total of P2.2 million bail for 16 members under military custody, it was learned on Friday. Col. Oscar Lactao, commander of the 303rd Brigade, said the AFP will bring the matter to the attention of the Anti-Money Laundering Council to help them in the investigation. Col.Lactao suspected there could be a group supporting these rebels and they already have identified persons involved but declined to divulge their identities. The 303rd Brigade commander said they have arrested a total of 20 Communist rebels for various violations ranging from the heinous crime of murder,robbery-in-band, arson and many others. Of the 20, the NPA was able to post a total bail of P2,204,800 for 16 rebels. Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police and the AFP placed priest turned rebel Francisco Fernandez who used the aliases as "Ibarra", "Canor", "Silio", and "Ago" in the list of the four most wanted persons in the province of Negros Occidental. Report has it that Fernandez has the highest bounty on his head pegged at P7.8 million for four counts of murder and one attempted murder.
