From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 7): 156 B'laan families in Sultan Kudarat now have potable water

At least 156 families, mostly indigenous people, in a remote village in Columbio town in Sultan Kudarat now enjoy steady supply of clean water after the project was completed last week, a social welfare official from Southwest Mindanao said. Gemma Rivera, assistant regional director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Region 12, said the potable water system project was part of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS), a community-driven undertaking which aims to address the "most pressing need" of the people in areas considered "poorest among the poor...."

  1. KALAHI-CIDSS is part of the overall GRP COIN strategy and is designed to deliver basic services to conflict-affected areas.
