From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 7): 156 B'laan families in Sultan
Kudarat now have potable water
At least 156 families, mostly indigenous people, in a remote village in Columbio
town in Sultan Kudarat now enjoy steady supply of clean water after the project
was completed last week, a social welfare official from Southwest Mindanao said.
Gemma Rivera, assistant regional director of the Department of Social Welfare
and Development (DSWD) in Region 12, said the potable water system project was
part of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery
of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS), a community-driven undertaking which aims to
address the "most pressing need" of the people in areas considered "poorest
among the poor...."
