A member of the communist terrorist group withdrew support to the communist terrorist group (CTG) in Sarangani Province on Tuesday, April 11.

The 38th Infantry Battalion, led by Lt. Col. Michael Angelo Candole, facilitated the surrender of a member of the Guerilla Front Musa, Far South Mindanao Region, identified as alias Takla. The former rebel submitted himself to the military at the 38IB headquarters at Sitio Tampuan, Barangay Kamanga, Maasin town, Province of Sarangani, at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Joint Task Force Central Commander, Maj. Gen. Alex Rillera said that the surrendered personality denounced the CTG deceptions. Takla revealed he was tired of evading government troops and desired to live a peaceful life.

The former rebel handed over his M14 rifle with magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm balls.

“I commend the troops of Joint Task Force Central under the leadership of Maj. Gen. Rillera, for this recent accomplishment. This success is a result of the combined efforts of the troops, the local government units, and the people of Central Mindanao who all work hard to eliminate terrorism, insurgency, and any form of criminality,” Western Mindanao Command Chief, Lt. Gen. Roy Galido,
said.
